Yes it's true apparently. A better cam (made in England) for the Himmy which gives 20% across the range. Search the internet, very positive reviews

Currently on back order, but I am defo ordering one, along with the free flowing air filter.

I hope the new platform is a more robust one than the old Bullet (it certainly appears to be).

The problem (if there is one) will show itself when you install power upgrades. It can only go so far, then something will have to break,

A 20% bump is pretty dang much!

TEC were sold out of these cams due to demand, but a couple of weeks ago they restocked and I managed to get one. It looks a quality bit of kit I have to say..





I don't know why but the sprocket locating pin is supplied separately and needs to be pressed in, so if you don't have a press or a vice you need to find somebody who has.

Actually getting everything apart was the most time consuming. I removed all the retaining bolts, but the cam cover was unbelievably hard to remove. I was using a 12" tyre lever and thought the cover was going to break. I kept looking thinking that I'd missed some bolts, but eventually it gave up. It's nicely made inside..





When I adjusted the tappets last year I could not believe how difficult it was to set them. Mostly due to not being able to fit a ring spanner on the nuts as they were so close to the inside of the cover. So while I had the cover off I relieved some of the metal with a file ( being very careful not to scratch the mating surface). After the cam install setting them was a doddle.





After the install the bike fired up instantly and I kept it running at 2000 - 2300 for 15 minutes, however it has been dumping snow here all day so I couldn't test ride it. Further updates to follow.

Will ask the weather powers to send you a few sunny days , should arrive before end of next wk , stay ready , and enjoy your ride Cliff !

It was pretty cold today, but the roads are dry so I took the opportunity for a 30 minute test ride. The bike is definitely better and seems to be able to pull away at lower RPM. I can't rev it over 4k at the moment, but on a level road it was easily holding 60KPH @ 3000rpm in 5th gear. One thing I did note though - I stopped to take the pics below and on restart the starter seemed to struggle to turn the engine initially. The original cam has a built in decompressor so I'm guessing that's why. Time will tell, but at the moment I'd say so far it's meeting expectations and it does what TEC claim.

@trident sam Being a lazy arse I didn't want to disassemble the rockers, so what I did was to stuff the inside of the cover below where I was filing with cotton wool. ( I guess cloth or tissues would also do). I have a piece of wood with a bit of angle screwed underneath to clamp it in a vice and make a little platform. So what I did was to put the cover on the wood upside down then kneel down and file from underneath. That way a lot of the filings fell to the ground and the rest were caught by the cotton wool inside the cover. Once that was removed I could just spray out the cover with WD40 and wash out any remaining filings ( there were not many). I hope that makes sense, but it will be clearer when you come to do it.

Good to hear you had a chance to test ride ,guess my dance worked … you may have to rig up a lever for decomp feature ? …. really nice waterfall ! … many yrs ago found a book “Waterfalls of Nova Scotia” been slowly checking them off , the new to me DR650 will get me to last several …. I do like the RE’s , however still hung up on lazy grunt of big singles … rumour was , at the time ,author of waterfall book had a gov grant to do his research one summer and sold book for a bargain , he included everything needed to know to find them ….
