I dont understand that you have 5792 PPU with two magnets??
My 18 weel as a circunference from 2025 meter.
1000 divided by 2025 X 4 bolts give me 1975 PPU??

your calculation is correct as stated in the manual. That did not work for my speedo. I found the ppu number by testing. The shown speed is spot on.
Cearbont made a special with a 190 km/h dial for me. Maybe that is the reason. Who knows?

It is the second speedo I test.
No movement at al on the pointer, only when I put the contact on the pointer go full scale and back to zero.
Tomorow I will put a multimeter on the sensor.

I test the resistance to day, very difficult to see, they resistance never go from zero to full
After I put the multimeter on volts: in this case the multimeter show 12 volts everytime a bolt pass the sensor and go to zero between the bolts.
Hope to have more info's on monday, this never ended story make me mad

Morning Yves,

I have spoken to the guys in Wales and they say that you have PROLED clock and the wiring is correct.

They also say your sender is good because the light flashes and you have 12v as a bolt passes.

They suggest that you remove the clock and connect the green wire to the + of a battery, and connect the black wire to the - , the speedo should sweep full scale and go back to zero, now quickly and repeatedly flash the red/blue wire across the + terminal of the battery. This should get a movement of the needle, it will be a bit jumpy but if it moves the speedo is good.

They are happy for you to send the speedo and sensor back to them for testing but I guess for you it would be better if it went back to Frank Jordens if it proves to be faulty.

Hi Ralph,
I did the test, the pointer don't move, only when I put the contact on, the pointer move to full scale and back to zero
I did the test on two speedos with the same part#
I am working 55 years on motorcycles but I never as sutch a problemµ

As unlikely as it sounds, it looks like you have 2 faulty speedometers, incidentally, they did confirm that the speedo is negative earth.

I guess you need to speak to your supplier now.

I had 2 new CDI boxes that tested as faulty, 1 was a replacement for the first one I had sent the readings back on and sent without needing to send it back. But in the end it was the hall sensor that was at fault, a new one worked with both CDI's. I would send the complete package back so they can test all the related items.
 
Good point but flashing the red/blue wire to + whilst the speedo is powered up should make the pointer jump and that is independent to the sensor. I would send everything back though, belt and braces and all that.

Hi Ralph,
end of the joke now, I will not send everything back, I tray 2 speedos and 3 sensors, I dont trust Caribont anymore. I will ask Frank to take the speedo back and give me one from another brand. I spend to mutch time on this, we are in 2020 and this will never happens in the 21 century.

Regret hearing of this bad experience not being resolved. I hope your luck improves with another brand.
 
To day I did another test with 410 PPU, and believe it or not: the pointer was moving!
Following the instructions from Peter I will do a drive to set PPU next week, I must finish some other works on the bike before.
I cross my fingers...

Hi there,
weeks of rain change the ground facing my workshop in a mud pool and dont allow me to go out to do a drive to set with my speedo.
I put 15 tons of gravel over the ground and now it's dry.
Last saturday we have a sunny day, I take the bike out for the drive to set, you must go in programing mode before you start the engine, I did it, but when starting the engine with the Estart, the speedo shut off... to me the Estart drain to mutch power and the feed from the speedo go under 8.5 V and shut off.
The solution is to put a separate switch to feed the speedo once the engine is runing, I will do this to day.
The problem fom the speedo don't keep me away from riding, what a wonderfull experience to ride your bike after the long winter!
The bike was runing amazing well and my feeling on the bike was top even with my broken hip. BTW: I can out my leg over the seat W/O help.
I spend the long winter weeks with doing 1001 details on the bike, like a new oil pump, Commnoz hydrolic cam chain tensioner, oil pressure gage, new oil in the brake system, new oil for the engine (Bel Ray) polishing all the aluminium parts.
So the bike is ready for the new season that start next sunday with a Rally at Ninove Belgium.

As long as your voltage dosent drop below 8v when you use the starter you will have 12v at the Speedo
I use one of these on my commando after Komando's recommendation
It ensures my power hungry Lucas Rita gets 12v when I press the starter button
I am of the opinion it could protect any igniter box from regulator failure etc
No doubt someone will correct me on this :)

Says maximum 6 A. Enough for your RITA?

If the converter is 80% efficient, then it’s a bit power-hungry itself.

Yes that particular one protects from both over and under voltage, some only do the under voltage so will not cover regulator failure.

Efficiency varies both from what components are being used and the work being done but it should be 90+%.
