102 Year old man stuck on roof for three days , Dies . . .

One thing I never do is slide myself under my house to do maintenance, while my wife is not at home. If I got stuck under there while she was out, when she came home, she would not find me.
 
The problem is that with elderly people stress is a killer. My 89 year-old mother fell over in her back-yard and could not get up. She dragged herself into the shade of a tree, then she was too cold. Her grand-daughter came home 6 hours later, found the back door open but did not look for my mother. Later that evening her grand-daughter's husband went for a smoke and found my mother lying under the tree in the backyard. My mother ended up in hospital where they found antibodies in he blood which indicated heart stress. She got golden staph on her fingers while in hospital and it got into her bowel. She died in palliative care after refusing an operation which would almost have certainly killed her.
 
I once went to a lady doctor with a pain in my lower abdomen. She asked me whether I would rather be seen by a man. I said 'aren't you a doctor ?' - so she had a look at me, then told me I had 'lovers' balls'. I said 'am I the first case of lovers' balls you've had this week ?' and she roared laughing.
 
When I go up on the roof I always make sure the missus is on the ground in sight. This year's maintenance was two replacing two ridge covers that a 90 mile gale had loosened during winter. Next year will see more maintenance but for one job, replacing and widening a lead lined valley I will get a roofer in.
