I recently 1968 Commando without the oil tank and side cover. Do you guy know if a later style oil tank fit into this frame?
Yes , but why ?I recently 1968 Commando without the oil tank and side cover. Do you guy know if a later style oil tank fit into this frame?
The 68 was a fastback model.. I don't have a tank, seat or tail piece also. The side cover is for the other side (Battery)Yes , but why ?
I'd search for an original and keep it original . Pretty sure there was no sidecover over the original long oil tank .
Thank you. Do you know if I'll have to use a later style battery tray to accommodate the later oil tank?I would use a later style oil tank because I don't think that early tank has the option for a breather tube entering the tank (for reed valve or case breather vent). Without it your breather will just vent to the atmosphere and puke oil.
The Fastback oil tank has an engine breather and a tank breather connection.I don't think that early tank has the option for a breather tube entering the tank
I can confirm that.Yes , but why ?
I'd search for an original and keep it original . Pretty sure there was no sidecover over the original long oil tank .
Not to hijack your thread but I'm interested in your comment about the frame being slightly wider. I thought they where all the same but if they're not it might explain a spacer issue I had with my rear ISO unit.I do know the later seat will not fit and the frame is slightly wider..
The rear hoop supporting the seat was wider, no effect on the ISO unit mounts.I thought they where all the same but if they're not it might explain a spacer issue I had with my rear ISO unit.
