1970 Fastback left side cover frame mount?

I have a bare frame for 1970 Fastback . The left side cover has two metal loops inside, upper edge.

What do the frame mounts look like and where do they mount on frame? ( mine are missing)

Here's mine. Quite a hassle to install this to check battery etc. You need rubber grommets to fit in the panel, I made some from tubing but original D shape would be better. The bottom mount on mine is a short bolt and nut on the exterior of the panel. Original should be a plastic Roto-lock?

You have not a 1970 left side cover.
It was from 68 to 69 even if later had the 70 type.

Piero, I don't follow what you are saying. The Fastback had the same side cover (and oil tank) from 1968-1970. The 'S' and Roadster obviously had a different side cover and oil tank.
 
Sorry but i dont agree with you also because i have both 68 and 70 fastback all original.

Sure the 1968/69 had steel left side cover fixed with the two horizontal hooks (like in picture posted) and the cover with the two metal loops inside, locked to the battery tray with black plastic rotor.

The 1970 left side cover is still in steel but is fixed in the same way of 1971 with two holes and grommet in vertical and locked ahead with dzust and any more with rotorlock on the battery tray that is different.

So i meant that Douglass cannot show the sidecover like a 70 because it is 68/69.

There's no mention of a change in the parts supplement for the '70 Fastback.
Is the engine/frame number earlier than 141783?
Does your '70 Fastback have the standard Fastback oil tank, frame-mounted centre stand and pre-71 yokes?
 
My bike is earlier than 141 because is a 70.
It has the still large oil tank (without cover).
Frame is a pre 71 but with later central stand (on the crafle) i have changed instead of the original on the cross over the frame.
Forks were 70 but i changed with 73 disc front brake.
I will send the pictures i have on my smartphone because i cannot go to my workshop because you know i cannot exit from home.

I bought this bike in 1990 in this conditions and i cannot say more of than you can see. I cannot think that the cover is an hande made or an after market because it seems stock.
But no one better than you knows.

According to Thomasdunstall the panel changed from 139571 but was "fiberglass", not steel.

That is the first example of a Fastback I have seen with an early style tank and a late style side cover. And the first of that style in steel. I'd say that is very rare. I take it the zener is also on the Z-plate since the early heat sink is not visible? Is the battery tray the early style but without the tabs for the Dzus fasteners for the side cover and zener heat sink?

Battery tray is without bracket for the heat sink bracket rotorlock and has the bottom bracket for grommet.
Zener is on the Z plate like all ‘70 and late 69.
Cover has same 71 fitment way.
Sorry, this cover is steel.

139571 was when the Fastback got the Roadster exhaust and was "Fastback MkII" according to Roy Bacon.

"Last Fastback MkII" was 141717 according to Roy Bacon.

The '1971' specification (Fastback MkIII) from 141783 (January 1971).

I have had an early 1971 HiRider with ‘70 frame and rear wheel.
I remember well that i posted this topic here and some of members replayed that it was possible there was an interim period.
