Don't you think those carrier frames look ugly. You don't need them either. The standard sissy bar on my 850 is the rear support from my Oxford bags with the velcro straps. The front strap just sits on my seat. I wrap the remains of the strap from a ratchet tie down around the rear strap and sissy bar which keeps it rigid in position, but I can also rotate the whole bag sassy back over the sissy bar to get my seat off for inspection on a ride. Because i can fit weather proof covers over the bags as well, i do use bungy cords to help hold everything in place. When I get where I am going , everything comes of and keeps the bike looking as it should.
Warning to us other old buggers out there. Don't fit anything on your bike which stop's you getting your leg over [ shes not interested ] or you may be in a situation where you and you bike fall over at a gas station. The sissy bar is the max height for me. I just cant imagine trying to get my leg over the tank without grinding my heels on it.
BTW. The front strap is not uncomfortable to sit on.
