The minimum welding charge is well over $100 in my area. I am trying to figure out something reasonable. RGM email bounces.

Before any welding starts.... Did you check to be sure the threads on the tapered shaft in the mini-magneto housing are the same as those on the old AAU fastener? If you already mentioned that you checked oops, I missed it. Based on some part description text on the Feked site the mini-magneto housing Feked sells uses a metric thread on that tapered shaft and requires a metric nut and I'm not even sure how one would make the old AAU work in that scenario unless you can take it entirely apart and replaced that fastener. If I'm not mistaken, I can't get that fastener out of mine. It could be screwed up though, so may not mean much.

RGM is in I don't know what state currently. I had no problems making a purchase when I bought product from RGM. Communication after Lawrence left was zilch, and they sent some wrong parts, and they haven't done anything about it. Win some lose some.

That sprocket part RGM is selling for "all twins" might be your only option for a new part that could work. I think shipping makes it 2X the price unfortunately. In your shoes I would probably bite the bullet and order one. He shows more than 10 in stock. I've spent a lot more on items I ended up not using due to one thing or another. Sometimes you have to take a chance. It might show up at your doorstep fairly quickly. I think Roger uses top tier shipping based on his shipping prices.

It mounts up fine with the same fixing bolt. I can't make the RGM website order form accept input for 'state' - it kicks me back in a loop to try again but nothing works. I tried Emailing the contacts listed on the site (anna_rgm@btinternet.com and lawrence_rgm@btinternet.com) to see how to proceed, and the emails bounced. Hopefully can figure out how to make this purchase, will try calling.

That's good on the fit if you have to use the AAU sprocket.

I believe I had to create an RGM account first to make the ordering process work. Then after using my card jump through a couple of hoops with my bank to get them to release the funds. I don't think RGM takes paypal. The info@ email address Shane mentioned might get answered. It did not for me, but that was a month or so ago.

I’m in the states and have bought parts from Andover Norton on debit card without a problem but when I tried to buy a seat foam from RK Leighton, over the phone it was VERY frustrating trying to get my bank to accept them as a legit vendor. Andrew was a lot more patient than me, and he usually answered the phone. I had thought all the overseas calls would be costly, they weren’t at all.

I got the order in. First I created an account, and then in the cart I picked the country (USA). Then it gave me 'state' instead of 'county' in the next page checkout form and let me proceed. I'm not sure which of the two things fixed it, but it's OK now.

Slightly off topic, K2F equipped Atlases came with Monobloc carbs. not my favourits carb. A daily rider would do better with Concentrics. Later models (early 67 on?) came with the points behind the cylinders and Concentrics, so should be readily available.

Just noticed this so hope you haven't finished it yet.

I had trouble with the mag on my Domi 500 racer, so fitted a Commando 4s cam, timing cover and Boyer ignition. It was very straightforward with no modifications required to crankcase ( not counting increasing the clearance for the cam lobes when fitting the 4s cam) or timing cover. --

1 Get a new sporty Commando cam, for use with the existing timed breather and points in timing cover , and a pair of points in cover type cam chain sprockets.
2 Remove the old mag, all timing sprockets and the chain tensioner.
3 Fit the new cam chain sprockets (necessary to match the new offset at the cam) use the old chain.
4 Make a simple rectangular aluminium spacer block for mounting the original chain tensioner. Instead of fitting behind the chain, the tensioner is turned over and fitted from the outside with longer studs/bolts, placing the spacer between the original mounting point and the tensioner. - hence the need for a spacer. Use the old chain. (I did this 43 years ago and am fairly certain I used the old tensioner not a points in cover one. Or indeed if there is any difference between them!)
5 Set the chain tension using a cut-down timing cover (something that all Norton heavyweight twin owners should have in their tool box)
6 Fit the new timing cover, having first checked the seals .
7 Fit points assy. and blank off the hole where the mag was.

Norton never changed anything they didn't have to.

The RGM sprocket arrived and it mounted up fine, thanks for the tip, it's definitely the right one for this setup.
