Gearbox o-ring size

The two o-rings on the front side of my gearbox case are dribbling oil. I replaced them last year when the gearbox was out, so I guess the parts I got from Ella were'n up to snuff. Does anyone know the dimensions of these?

Did you use grease on them ?
ie... silicon or vasaline?
Plumbers grease they call it.
Dry they may have squished and ripped on cinch down of the bolts.
Just a thought for the next go around.

Dave, I must of changed those o-rings half dozen times and finally sent the gearbox cover to Fair Spares America to get modified to seals. Cost me around $85 including shipping cost's. So nice not to have leaks. Only wished I had it done sooner.

he is talking about the gear actuator and fork orings at front of gear box #85 in pic.
I thought same thing as well. I did the conversion as well to side cover via ARM.
Just need to install.

So, anybody know the dimensions? Old Britts pages usually have dimensions of o-rings but not on these.

If you mean 04-0129 Quadrant and Camplate 'O' ring seal (D10 in my parts book), the older version of the tech digest list it as 1/2" X 3/32".

Funny, people keep telling me they don't leak from the quadrant o-ring because it is above the water line. I replaced it on my MKIII last month and it is still leaking. If the x-ring works out pleast let us know. I would love to stop the leak from that spot. It is a bear to change with the transmission in place on a MK III because of the shifter cross shaft.

Thanks Greg. The standard size for 1/2" o-rings is 1/16" cross section. I wonder if the replacements aren't thick enough..

Thanks, but again that's about the kickstart and shifter seals. I was inquiring about the quadrant o-rings.

These are the rings to use - some are purposly oversize and difficilt to install - but they seal Work in the ovresized rings with a wooden dowel rod.

Orings
1/16th by 3/8th OD viton clutch push rod seal
3/32 x 3/4 ID regular O ring shift lever cram in or go to 5/8 ID Viton
1/16 square x 3/8 OD inner shift lever
Tranny kick quad 1 ID 1-1/4 OD
Tranny cam & shift pawl 3/4 OD x 3/32 viton
