I thought this might be a MkIII rear wheel but someone pointed out it’s not. Now I don’t know what it could be. Four bolts on each side but it’s defin not symmetrical.

Thought?

No.
The T160 rear wheel is 19" WM3, with a 1x1 dimple pattern rim. T140 is 18" WM3, 3x1, the T160 (2-piece casting) hub is also different to (3-piece) T140 and the T160 has a LH/drive-side Smiths speedo drive gearbox.

What you appear to have there is the early T140 type that had a Smiths speedo drive gearbox on the RH/timing side as later T140s had a Veglia speedo drive on the LH/drive-side.

If Dunlop, look for Triumph part number (37-7030) stamped on the rim? Edit: Also MC296.

Yes, that is what is stamped on the rim. I’ve cut the spokes and tossed the rusty rim. I’ll probably do the same with the hub. I just don’t see anyone needing a hub for a Triumph.
 
Shame to bin them as someone would be interested in them. If it is a Dunlop rim, people (me included) get them rechromed for originality. They will sell on your favourite auction site I'm sure.

Except I don’t have a favorite auction site. So far I’ve only lost money on eBay. This seems like another useless part for a bike that’s just not popular over here.
 
Folk use the Triumph back hub in specials, the Steve Maney designed cush drive, as now used by NYC and Minnovation Racing uses a Triumph hub. I'm sure someone will give few $ for it.
Not quite sure what you mean by 'not popular over here'... until the pound died against the dollar in '79 or so, making them prohibitively expensive, the USA was the biggest market for Bonneville's in the world.
 
I mean the later Triumphs aren’t being collected and restored as frequently as the earlier bikes. At least in the States.

They make a good hub for a special.
 
Certainly lighter than other options. Every time I study a Commando/Atlas rear wheel and regret the tonnage and the limited gearing options, I dream of a cush/spool hub but . . . it has to be British.
 
I ran one of those hubs on the back of my bike for about the first 80,000 miles.
No cush drive. No problems.
 
xbacksideslider, it’s easy, get the unloved hub from swoosh, then order one of these nifty little kits from minnovationracing.co.uk and you got a light weight, Cush drive, British hub with infinite sprocket flexibility...

It would need lacing up specifically, and customs spacers making I guess. NOT a drop in mod.
