Norton Nemesis rebuild

Not sure about some of the overall design aspect myself, like the cast in front mudguard etc.

But that engine? Yes please! I can imagine that would have made a truly fabulous road bike power plant.

To my knowledge, every attempt at designing a rotary valve for an IC engine has failed due to sealing problems and deposits.
The crude hammering effect associated with traditional valves also keep the seal (comprising valve seat and face at valve head) free of deposits.

No doubt, but then lots of things that work today didn't at first. A lot of it is down to materials science.

If superman were written about for the first time today, he likely would not be called the "Man of steel", more likely Carbon Fiber Man, or Nano Tube Man and not that many years ago, Man of Titanium.

We need endless racks of tools to enable us to bodge things up in a myriad of different ways that can’t be done with a simple hacksaw and grinder.

My dad could repair just about anything with a butter knife!!!!
 
I wonder how many miles that engine has done, and what condition it would have been in after 10k miles, for example? Never mind what it would take to get it Euro 5 compliant…..
 
What a pity Allen wasn’t around when the Nemesis was being built to supervise it. It surely would never have been as bodged as it clearly is. I fully expect it to run as sweet as a watch once he has completed it, and perhaps made his own alterations

I agree
It has astonished me so far, some of the things he's found
I know nothing about the history of these bikes
I remember them vaguely probably from the MCN
 
My Busa race bike clutches and gearboxes all performed admirably even when sticking over 500hp through stock plates. The only ever issue was on the 99 bike which had a known issue for 5th/6th gear dogs. That and trying to go from 5th to 6th with the airshifter while the rear tyre was spinning.
 
Is there a stated purpose for this restoration? Is it going to be raced? Is it going to sit in a motorcycle museum ? Jay Leno buying it? What an Effing sin it would be if this bike doesn't actually have a purpose on a race course somewhere rather than be some rich collector's unriden collectable...
