Haha, if only, but actually I reckon the engine is robust enough. The cases are incredibly over engineered.What's up?

Hi Richard, I’ve had the whole engine out, and found a couple of problems, and I’m making a few changes. I’ll create a new thread on it when I’m finished.

Hi Tony, yes, took the starter out and checked it out, and cleaned up the contacts, plus a new style Harley gasket/ seal going on.

What is the Harley seal ?

Hi Tony, it’s like a big Dowty washer, with a seal bonded to the inner circle. From what I can see it’s part no. 31488-81C but mine came from Stu with no wrapping. If you do purchase one and I’m correct, please let me know and I’ll get it added to the parts list.

Any pics ? Can you describe where in the assembly it is ? Does it go in the same place as the gasket , squeezing between starter and primary case. ?

Montville, Maleny loop today - fantastic ride, perfect weather! It’s cooler up there at this time of year which the Norton seems to prefer. No occasional cut outs on dropping to idle - ran perfectly.
Bikes everywhere - also multiple motorcycle police bikes! First time I’ve ever seen a couple of bikes ‘doing a runner’ from an unmarked police bike. Did’nt fancy their chances as those boys can really ride!

Pre-ride checks outside in the sun, palm trees swaying in the breeze - sorry, find it hard not to gloat sometimes
Nothing falling off, well not imminently anyway - check - that’ll do for a mid week meander to Mount Mellum.
Just posted a pic of a cracked carbon wheel this morning and then had a huge hit on the front from a raised section of road, as I was passing a car. Murphy’s law - what’s the chances!!
Stopped for a coffee and a fat boy pie. Roadside cafe had a 70m frontage and this Hardly Drivable decides to park right up my chuff! Literally had to roll her forward to stand er up! Maybe he was hoping some ‘cool’ would rub off!
Anybody ridin? Post, or it never happened!
