Hi Paul,
I have done the same air box install as you and also have installed the PCV, I love the new found power and performance however I still have a fast idle issue. I am messaging Tony about the issue as well. What ECU do you have and did you have any issue with fast idle. Along with the air box opening the bike has a de-cat pipe and long open pipes. Any thoughts!

This nice thread has a lot of info, but some seems missing. Apparently there are more than one pc's being used. In the thread a pc II is mentioned, also a pc V, the BMW model is listed either as an F800 or an 800ST and I believe the part number 12-009 is assigned to both pc II and pc V. Would it be possible to publish the exact pc mnodel and the exact BMW model and year it was used for in the various installations mentioned? I talked to the Dynojet folks in the US and they asked me for that info. Fyi, they responded to me within hours, so it seems they are willing to help.

The PCII is no longer available (old model) , in fact you may not be able to find a PC5 !! The PC6 is what's out now and the price is of course higher . I seem to remember I got the 12-009 for BMW F800 , and you must use wire quick taps for the TPS wiring. But I have to check that part number to be sure , its been a long while ago . If you go to BSD performance in the UK (like I did) , they have done multiple Power Commander installs for Norton 961 . Look at their website and search for Norton 961 . They supplied me with the wire taps and good instructions ! Support the shops that support us ...

This thread sidelined my new ecu project, at least temporarily. I talked to Dynojet, they immediately said they want to work with me, also talked to rev-tek in Hawaii and they promised me that, if i correctly wire in a power commander, they can tune it on the dyno. This thread is great, but there are two major issues that too many might have done not necessarily correctly. Issue number one is a needless replacement of the air filter, issue number 2 is the removal of O2 sensors. As I hear from intake tract experts, filters with oil sprayed on them require *cleaning* every 40 to 50k miles, not replacement. A big note on this is that soon after "cleaning" an oiled air filter has *decreased* capacity!!!! Increasing the flow of air thru the engine is very rarely accomplished simply by changing the air filter, so most of the work in that area might have been in vain, as far more serious work ( lots of intermediate math and advanced 3d simulation and 3d implementation) is normally needed for that. Item 2 is the removal of the O2 sensors, that is a big no no in mind and the primary reason for that most probably is that there are no 12mm wideband sensors, only 18mm wideband sensors and our 961's are with 12mm bungs. If someone wants to use autotune and perhaps other Dynojet software to the max, it is necessary to have a wideband in the system, that is the path I intend to follow and I will replace my 12mm bungs with 18mm ones. Re the air filter, i washed and re oiled my original at 11,000 miles. At this time, with almost brand new O2 sensors I have only a very small idle issue, about to clean the idle motor, plugs still carbon black but I hope to change my maps before this set of O2 sensors goes south too, hope dynojet will come thru.

It is also possible to buy adapters to fit 18 mm wideband sensors to the 961's 12 mm bungs. That's what I did so I could use an AFR data logger and display, and it worked well.

In order to work properly an O2 sensor needs to be *IN* the main stream of the exhaust. Any results with the sensor totally off line (like the pic shows, )should be highly suspect. Sorry for the bad news...

I worried about that initially, but the tech guys at Daytona Sensors, who make and sell the WEGO line of AFR display and data logging equipment, told me it would work fine with those adapters. And on a more pragmatic note, using them with the WEGO as a tuning aid worked really well for me. After a lot of on the road testing, data logging the AFR in a lot of different riding scenarios and using the results to modify the fuel-air tables in the ECU, my 961 runs really well. And that is, after all, the goal of the exercise.

I wouldn't doubt that the measurements might not match exactly with those taken with an 18 mm bung in the pipe, but as far as I can tell, at least in my case, they were accurate enough for my purposes. I had intended to eventually add 18 mm bungs for comparison, but it worked well enough as is that I never made the effort. If I ever get around to making a new exhaust system, I will certainly use 18 mm bungs. There's no chance I'll ever go back to using the original narrow-band sensors, so I don't have any reason to stick with the smaller bungs.

As they say, YMMV.

All really interesting but can we have a few dyno charts please? Interested to compare to my Euro4 with K&N filters and uprated injectors.....

Hi Clive , This is a print out that I could find after the Dynojet PCV was installed and dynoed .

Hmmmm - take a look at my dyno charts. Considering I bought a couple of second hand (volvo?) uprated injectors from Ebay I am fairly pleased with results. Chart re-posted ;

Hi Clive , I think you did very well . There are more dyno graphs on the BSD website on bikes they did. Mine's not finished yet either.
