Chaps (and chapesses),

Does anyone know what cams, and cam timing, were used in the late model short stroke TR65 Thunderbird engines?

There were no specific camshafts for the TR65 according to the '82 parts book (so same as T140, 71-7016 & 71-7017).

TR65 valve timing according to the manual "CHECKED WITH NIL TAPPET CLEARANCE AT T.D.C.":
Inlet - 0.151"/ 3.83mm
Exhaust - 0.088" / 2.23mm

Also, according to the factory manual, the standard TR65* cam wheel marks are:
Inlet cam wheel dot aligns with intermediate dash.
Exhaust 'X' aligns with intermediate dot.

*Edit (Not TR65T)

What was the difference with the TR65T? Different timing or different cams?

Timing marks are different and it seems it could have had a different (71-7349) inlet cam, same as the TR7T.

Apparently there was also a TR65S model which had standard 71-7016/71-7017 camshafts.

Aha... I’m familiar with that cam, it’s somewhat like a higher lift 3134 profile. Makes sense. Thanks again LAB.
