Trademarks for TVS

I can see utilizing the model names of past Norton designs if those names still evoke the passion they did back in the '50s and '60s.
But names like Nomad, Ranger, Navigator may please some of us geezers, they have little to no appeal to young riders/buyers.
I think model names such as Commando, or Combat Commando have a dynamic element about them that would attract the young.
Much like Ninja, Fireblade, Streetfighter, etc....

The Electra will be the new electric, tree hugger, future environmentally conscience model.

Hopefully, the Commando will resurface again in some form.

I can see a Multistrada type bike being called any of these - especially Nomad.
 
Not convinced that using the old names will appeal and sell many bikes. As for an electric, forget it for the time being as the parent company has just parked their electric city scoot offering for some reason.

As for the TM registrations, you need to read all of them and the classes they have applied for, for the UK / EU search by company name and I suspect they have registered in the USA under Norton America. It amounts to way more than old names. For a company that has clearly and publicly stated it is going to make money by IP licensing it looks like the world of Norton could be different going forward. If you use the word or logo then expect to pay. That will include paper and card products not listed elsewhere - yes, they have been thorough even to the extent of TM foe a belt buckle as it was not covered elsewhere in the classes.
 
The weather was not so good today, so had a look at this EUIPO site.
Lots of judicial stuff, not my everyday reading.
Anyway, can someone confirm wether I understand correctly from all this that the new owners (Bidco / The Norton Motorcycle Co. Limited) also applied (approval pending) last July for the trade mark "Andover Norton" for goods/services like motorcycles, vehicles, parts and fittings for motorcycles, as well as for clothing/headwear/footwear?
And that prior to that an application of Andover Norton of last February for the same, plus retail of parts, was opposed by the new owners, and subsequently withdrawn by AN?

The latest documents out from the liquidators BDO show that Garner’s recent bold statement that all pensioners whose money he “invested” will see their money and interest back contains about as much truth as most of his statements over the last decade or so. Financial observers don’t believe they will see much, if anything.

TVS, the buyers of the Donington IP, are still in the process of sorting through the leftovers. Predictably and sensibly they have started by cleaning up the Norton Trademarks, taking over those that were surreptitiously obtained by an outsider many years ago. In our communications with their lawyers it became obvious that the records they found are either incomplete or chaotic, most probably both.

That said, Andover Norvil parts are now the only production racer parts made and sold by a proprietor of the “Norvil” trademar

I can't imagine the EUIPO would lie about it.
