Spoon off one bead, haul the tube part way out & patch it.
Continue on.
Sunny day only paused & not ruined.

Absolutely right Mike! New tube in order.
In fact, my local guy pulled the inch and a half finishing nail out, plugged, and replaced the tube for me yesterday. So I'm ready to let the good times roll once again.

My only enquiry with the other bit about Slime is that when this happens again I might not be so lucky and fixing a flat at the side of the road is not likely going to happen for me. I would likely need to get some air and get rolling home as best as I can. I do have these CO2 canisters that I keep in my roadbikes that I'll take along with me now on my Commando. I think I'll give that Slime a try in my tubes just as a precaution for when I do pick up another nail. At the very least it will temporarily plug the hole and get me home, where I can replace the tube myself this time. My local guy gave me a spare tube, and I'm going to order up some Motion Pro levers or try to find some vintage ones that are flat and smooth. I do have that other set of 19" wheels that I can do some practicing on.

Oh the adventure of it!....
 
I fine having 3 tyre levers work better than using just 2 when working on tyres, also buy levers that are design for motorcycle rims, I have pinched a few tubes over the years using car lever, and use lots of slippery stuff to make it easy to slip the bead over the rim and a good rubber mallet helps.

No before writing as it's coming up to our winter fishing and I had fresh mullet in my head when writing about the tyre levers and wrote mullet instead of mallet, but a few seen my mistake before I fixed it lol.
Not many people like mullet as it's a very oily fish and I love them, in winter the big sea mullet come into the estuaries and creeks to spawn and will leap in your boat when they are running and on our ocean beaches the pro fishermen wait with their long nets and boats waiting when they school up, catch them by the tons, they taste better when blead straight away but the pro's don't bleed them and they don't taste as good, but they are cheap to buy at the markets during winter.
Anyway I am not the best speller anyway, wasn't a fan of school lol.

I agree. The motion pro set is good for bead braking but that's not much of an issue with our tubed tires. Also the motion pro set has a little more aggressive shape instead of spoon shaped. I bought the Neiko set - 3 long levers with rounded smooth spoons. Works well.

Breaking the bead on my Borrani aluminum rims with the safety bead was a real task until I got a HF floor mounted changer. I still don’t enjoy changing tires but it is just part of the deal.Longer levers are the way to go IMHO along with a good lube.

All good, nothing wrong with a bit of humor, but the mullet hair style is big here in Aus with the younger lads and a lot of old lads living in the past but for over 30 years I had short hair with a long rats tail at the back which was always platted, but all my mates have grey hair these days, my hair is still the same light red it always been, but I gone back to my youth with long hair.
Here in Aus men with mullet hair cuts we call them bogans lol.
 
Sorted out the slop in my rear brake lever, bored out the hole in the lever, turned a bush, pressed it in and all is now slop free.

Tomorrow will be a couple of hundred miles down to Mid Wales and back.

I can recommend the Devils Staircase and the Abergwesyn common road from Tregaron to Beulah. And the road from the top of the Devils Staircase past Llyne Brianne to Llandovery (the Owls Nest cafe is meant to be good)

p.s. if youre thinking of going to Dom's at Leominster - dont, it hasnt re-opened yet.
 
I put the interstate tank back on my mk3 after Jim C fixed it. I put fuel in and it’s not leaking. Also, removed the smiths electronic speedo and put a restored magnetic one. Also, switch back to original indicators / turn signals. Fitted a new headlight shell as old one was not fitting right. Changed all oils. I am now ready to ride and it started snowing, here are pics

I was fortunate enough to get a new sensor cable for my Smiths electronic speedo before they went on back order.With the new cable they also changed how it is wired to the gauge which I didn’t catch until I replaced it. It now works very nicely after catching my mistake.Glad you had a spare unit in your stash.
