Mine still has the original HD fitment tyres, and they’ll do for now. But they’re very squirmy over white lines, over banding and ruts, a bit like Roadrunners used to be, and something I’ve not really had to contend with for years.

I know these tyres last for eons, but I’d be happy to sacrifice a little mileage for more grip and stability.

Any recommendations on tyres for grip and handling rather than long life?

Dune, what seat are you running, I see it’s a Saddlemen, but which one?

And what’s the seating position like? And comfort? And support?

I like the seating position with the stock seat, if anything I‘d like to be a tad higher and further forward (a bit more ‘normal’).

Many aftermarket seats seem to put the rider lower and further back which I don’t want. Personally I like single seats, but on this bike you need something to stop you sliding off when you open the taps!

But I gotta do sumthin... the stock seat is literally a HUGE pain in the arse. 50 miles is uncomfortable. 70 miles is painful...
 
I am leaning towards a Corbin classic solo... hardly the cheap option, but I’ve got a Corbin on my Commando and like it a lot. Guess I just have a Corbin shaped arse...

BTW, I’m still waiting for the bronze to grow on me...

The one I have installed is a Saddlemen Speed Merchant edition, I honestly tried quite a bit of seats on other bikes, including foam, memory foam, etc

The gel makes a huge difference, it is a bit firmer than stock, but the gel and foam help .
 
Thanks Dune, I had been looking at the Speed Merchant as an option, MUCH more aesthetically pleasing than the Step Up!

The large hump must be very useful when accelerating hard. But, does it cause discomfort on long rides from pressure on the base of your back?

Also, can you tell me how the seating position compares to stock? I don’t want to be any lower or further back than stock.

I wrote to Saddlemen about their pure solo options, they wrote a very informative and helpful reply, but even they said if I want that acceleration support, I need a stepped seat.

I wrote to Corbin before that, but am still waiting....

BTW I replaced my rubber riser mount bushes with solid ones recently, definitely gives an improved feel, with only a very minor increase in vibes.

That's exactly why I didn't go for the solo which I have on my Sportster, the speed merchant is better looking, and doesn't put pressure on your lower back, you do sit a bit more forward.

I had a lot of issues with other seats as I have herniated disks in 4 places, this seat helped a lot with riding

Thanks, but got used to it, Chiropractors are angels sent from above haha

I dont Think I could comment on seat height, I cant recall sorry mate
