After @hybridracer advising me that JJ Cale's excellent song "Oh My My" would constitute a hate crime over there , I read today that a female newsreader (Martine Croxall) has been warned by the BBC for her reading of a piece where she added "woman" with widened eyes when the script said "pregnant person"

Geez! Can the BBC inform us of cases where pregnant "people" are not women?

FFS - you poor bastards!
(..and I think we're headed down the same stupid path!)

This case could get interesting as the U.K. recently made it clear in law that there are only two biological sexes and that your sex is the one you are born with and it cannot be changed (ie it is a separate thing to gender identity).

Therefore, it is (in U.K. law) a legal fact that only biological women can get pregnant.

Therefore, the BBC could be guilty of illegal discrimination in this case.

The term "chest feeding" gets me rather than "breast feeding"
We have a deputy PM that believes that men can produce milk so I suppose it's not surprising !
And recently before having an operation I was asked if I were pregnant!
Ok I may have a bit of a gut on me but I'm a 65 year old bald bloke 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’d love to be asked that…

I’ve rehearsed my response…

I’ll look back at them deadpan, for a silent pause, and then say:

“It isn’t a question I had previously considered, but now you, a medical professional, have clearly deemed it a necessary question to ask. All I can say is I do not know. I am not aware of being pregnant, but have not been tested. If you believe it is a relevant question because you believe that it is possible that I could be, and if the answer is important to proceedings, all I can suggest is that you run a pregnancy test on me…”

Followed by another silent deadpan look.

And I will try and do all of that in my best John Cleese impersonation…

In fairness the nurse asking me did laugh after I burst out laughing
And she said sorry but have to ask everyone whilst rolling her eyes
These doctors and nurses have enough to deal with without this bollocks IMO

My 93 year old mother in law recently had a knee replacement in a private hospital. At the pre-assessment the young nurse asked her a lot of questions, one of which was "How do you identify", to which the ever so slightly sarcastic reply was "Take a guess". A moment to be treasured.

“Mr Baz, are you pregnant?”

“How would I know, Doctor?”
