Hi, in the swingarm repair doc attached, it says to drill and tap the clamps 14-28, is that 1/4" x 28 thread per inch?You really should consider doing the Kegler mod before you add any more to the frame. Many have done it, and there are several vendors of the ready clamps or you can do it yourself.
A worthy upgrade.

Hey Everyone. I’ve been MIA for a while. Took a break from the build. Has my salary slashed because of covid and my wife works in a NYC hospital so life had been stressful these past few months. She wasn’t on a covid floor thank god but she took the train to the city everyday and was exposed to it often.
I’m back at work this week but still at half salary. It’s a struggle.
I’m going to try to get back into my build. I have a lead on an engine and a different lead on a trans.
The trans is a 1970 750 trans. I’m hoping I can use that on my 850.
Any thoughts on that?

Welcome back Steve, glad to hear you and your wife are OK.
I just checked the AN site on the gear box. They are the same up to early 73.
I think the only thing that changed was the gearing for 2nd gear.
Others may know better.
So, the 70 box will work. Just make sure you go through it, specifically the layshaft bearing.

I feel your anxiety- both my wife and younger daughter are therapists in two different nursing homes . Daughter’s building has 70+ CoVid cases. Wife’s building now at the plus thirty mark . Both are hands on with these patients all week long. So far we have all been lucky .
Don’t give up on your project- if it lays dormant for a time you can always come back to it. I started mine before Sandy hit us - life got in the way for a bit. It was 5 years to the day from the storm when I was finally able to return to it and then another 2 1/2 years of work but it is almost complete.
Keep your chin up and maintain the enthusiasm that we all admire .

Hi Rick, glad to get back online and try to get engaged again with my project. Good news with your family. This disease has been so hard on seniors. One of the guys I work with lost his dad to covid and a few more guys have parents in nursing homes who all have it. It’s been a life changing issue. I’m so happy that things are opening up again.
I put a sheet over my Norton and every once in a while I’ll walk by and pull the sheet off and say “ man, what a great motorcycle “.
A guy I was dealing with a while ago when I started this contacted me today and offered my a trans for $75. It needs a rebuild, but it got me a little energized some which is why I jumped back on the forum.
I also have a lead on an engine. There’s a different guy in Jersey who knows a guy who used to own a dealership that may have an engine for me. I have matching number trans and engine cases, just need the inners. This guy sent me a picture of a bike this ex-dealer has that will blow your mind. I’m going to try and find it. It’s crazy.
