Frankenbike

In my OPINION, number one consideration is that you have full range of motion with handlebars and controls, from lock-to-lock. Second is alignment with other bodywork.
Sorry but I agree with Fast Eddie, the above is irrelevant if the mudguard hits the fairing under hard braking locking up the steering!

You might want to get some black cloth material to fit over the back of the headlamp, the light glare reflected from the perspex might be a little off putting.. . . . .

That’s a good idea. Haven’t thought about that. Gauges will cover it some, but I’ll need to block out all that light.

Yes, I addressed that in my next reply HERE. I recommended pulling the top caps to allow the forks to bottom out and ensure they clear. I believe he's done that.

I'm really upset, but the build has to end and I'm putting the Norton Racer project up for sale. Take a look in the For Sale section if interested.

I got a new job and my wife and I are moving to the outer Banks of NC. The house we're buying doesn't have a garage, not even a place for my tools. I have 3 motorcycles and they all have to go. I sold the race car, and now its my bikes.

Don't feel bad, the OBX is gorgeous!

I wish you all the best in your move and new job. Maybe you'll find a work space and get back into it when you are settled someday in the future.

I know the feeling about not having space. I was building an outdoor work area, then covid hit and my dentist neighbor is now always at home and not so happy with the noise and petrol... so a couple of guys (in the same situation) and I have gone in together on a 1500 sq ft warehouse and that's where I'll be working on the Norton. I can get there at 6:30 in the morning and make as much noise as I want. I know leasing a warehouse/workspace is not in the cards right now, but maybe someday in the future.

Too bad but you just might be happier- I toy with the idea of downsizing because I worry about my bikes every time there is a threat of flooding . I have lived on LBI my entire life - had to leave any number of times and wonder what might be left when I return .
You’ll get plenty of that in the Outer Banks but it is a beautiful place .
Time to get a longboard and surf rod - enjoy all it has to offer without having to worry about your “ stuff “
Best of luck to you and yours ! - RT

Just in case you were all wondering what happened to the Frankenbike...here it is. I needed another Norton like I needed a new hole in my head ( this is #8) but I could not resist the offer from Steve on this bike. The bike is up and running. All that is left to do is to find appropriate mirrors and adjusting the fairing vs handlebar swing. But winter is here with our first snow so its time to retire for the season. Here are some pictures... more to come in the Spring.

What a great looking Frankenbike!

I am assuming you are wanting to go with bar end mirrors? If so, I cant recommend teh 75mm Oberon Streetfighter highly enough. They are the most rock-solid and clear mirror I have had on any bike. A bit fiddly to set up at first, but once set they stay set.
