I recieved the rectifier from Jack, well packed and fast shipping, very happy!

It has a 30a ‘circuit breaker’ in line. If this ‘circuit breaker’ is ever tripped, how is it re-set ?

It’s a big ole thing, can I just replace it with a normal 30amp fuse ?

I suspect it resets itself when it cools

I don't see why not. Carry extra fuses for it.

Yes that breaker should reset itself. I didn’t get the wiring package from Jack but I just used a 30 amp blade type fuse. FWIW I didn’t use my existing wire harness, which is pretty much what Jack suggests. Wire the unit directly to the alternator leads and battery. I put a WeatherPac connection on the alternator wires. If I did it again I think I would go with Deutsch (sp?) connectors. They are a little smaller and nicer looking.

What current does that "30A" circuit breaker actually trip at?

You'd need to replace it with a 30A blow rated or 15A continuous fuse as the blade type or other 30A continuous fuse blows at 60A.

I don't care for blade fuses. I have had them blow but was unable to see the tiny fracture in the fuse, I had to check continuity with meter. I prefer the continuous glass tube type that are visibly obvious when they blow.

I have a little 4 fuse box on mine. It has the LEDs in it next to each blade fuse so if a fuse blows it goes on. I think I modified it for positive ground.

How does it know?

I mean circuitry wise... how does that work?

I can understand it the other way around, circuit made = LED on, but not this way.

LED built into fuse holder. When fuse blows it lights up.

"We all know, current always chooses the low resistance path to flow. Here the fuse has very low resistance(null- in fact short circuit), hence it doesn't restrict current flow and full of load current flows through fuse only. In other words, LED has same voltage at its both terminals due to fuse(LED needs a breakdown voltage to glow)...
If fuse got burnt, there is only one way(i.e LED)to flow current and also LED gets the required supply voltage to glow(for Red LED-1.8V). Resistor connected in series with LED drops some voltage to prevent the LED from excess voltage and doesn't allow the load to operate."
