Does that mean retro tread design, but modern rubber compound and tire width/section?

I need new tyres too, so those T100s are definitely on the list now.
Bet that fat (180) T100 looks really neat on the rear end.
 
I'll let you know when it eventually arrives. At present its still wearing a Pirelli Phantom. Another modern tyre with retro looks...I just didnt like the front design.

Incredible that even on eBay, the tyre is advertised as "for the Norton Commando 961".
 
Have to admit that I have literally never chosen a tyre based on looks - wouldn’t even have thought about it to be honest. I get it, cos I spend half of my time making sure that the bike looks good before I ride it (makes it faster of course) but my thought process is that it only stays looking like that with maximum grip!

Does the TT100 match the best of the best for grip on a CR? That said, do I ride the thing quick enough to worry about it? Come to think of it, I could probably stretch my mountain bike tyres to fit and still survive! The ‘look’ of a tyre though? Not sure that I get it!

That is exactly what I have considered.
My thought is that I have a sportbike, shod in the best rubber for the heroics, my CR is for fun.
Also, the new TT is a radial with W rated compound, this is completely modern construction.
The only element of the tire that is classic or retro is the bitchin' TT100 tread pattern

On the plus side, the aggressive tread pattern will provide superior wet grip.
The tread pattern eliminates some if the rubber normally present on a semi-slick superbike tyre, which should mean that the tire will simply not last as many miles before requiring replacement.
I'm OK with all of that.

P.S. When my Speed Twin needs new shoes, it's getting these TT100s too.

Agreed, swapped mine out immediately - no way I was putting those things on the carbon wheels. They are sat on an axle suspended atop stands in my garage. Although they date back to 2016/17 I was surprised just how rock hard they have gone. Can’t even mark them with a fingernail!:oops:
