I paid £2200 for mine, it was 9yr old at the time and a big jump up from my oh so unreliable RD350ypvs. I was 20 when I bought it, a couple months off my 21st birthday, which I had to wait for before I could insure it. But I could practically hear it taunting me from the garage...ride me....RIDE ME. Still remember my parents going out one evening, and me very quietly opening my dads garage door, and sneaking the bike out and down the street before firing it up...trying not to stir the curtains of the very nosey neighbour we had, he would surely grass me up to dad

Anyhow, that was it, I was out for the ride of my life that evening....I remember blatting down the old back road into Castle Donington, dead straight but bumpy, before it was all altered to accommodate the runway extension. Micron full race system singing. At the time I thought to myself there cant be anything faster than this, it was mental. It feels quite tame nowadays, especially since sourcing a standard 4-2 exhaust system.....but it holds a very special place in my heart.
I had a nice progression on the bikes back then. 16 pedal and pop Honda, 17 RXS100 that I tweaked the ports and squish on along with ACE bars ( Ive since built a replica of that bike, sits in my garage), 18 TZR125 full power, 18 RD350ypvs, then a couple years later on the 750. The 750 was much faster, but much safer. That RD would have caused me a serious injury had I carried on with it...either through seizing up, losing control whilst on the back wheel or simply succumbing to the pogo stick suspension or shite brakes. That bike was also a memorable ride from the shop, Arnolds of Loughborough.....riding something with more than double the power of anything I'd owned before, in winter at night, in the rain. When that power valve opened up for the first time.....wow. If I rode one now I'd probably think it was broken lol
