Saved 74 Roadster, working on it. All machine work done, .020 over. JSM 01 cam, Lifters, tappets. Balanced crank. New Premiers to get it running. Head by "Carl H". Drouin from Bruce MacPherson's bike thanks to "Jimbo". 16" rear wheel, 21" up front. An assortment of fuel tanks. We will get there!

Yeah cliffa, I still have it. It's amazing what some people do to these bikes. This one had about 9500 miles on it. It seems the original owner just bought it and rode it to death. I'm just gathering all the parts so I can go into the assembly mode.:)

I can't say that i love the Avon roadrider tyres, they feel quite wooden in turns. Any recommendations for good touring tires?

What a beauty!

Looks a lot like mine.

Roadriders are good tires. I don’t run them on the Seeley cos it runs race tires. But I’ve got Roadriders on all but one of my road going classics and have used them on the track as well.

What pressures are you running ?

I'm a real fan of RR2s
I find them grippy, confidence inspiring and no tendency to "tramline" like some others.
Just about to click up 7500 miles on my very worn rear. Got 6500 from Battle-axe BT45, which had less grip.
I run 30psi front & rear on my '74 850 Interstate.

Just a thought @Marian , you didn't accidentally opt for the greenie/renewable/sustainable "Timber Compound" option?
Would explain the wooden feeling! ;) ;)

Yessss, that bike looks fast! 🖤
I’m running with ~28-30 psi on the tires. My other streetbike is a husqvarna FS450 with Michelin Pilot ct2, and maybe it’s the contrast in Confidence that makes the avons feel mediocre.

It is !!

Those pressures should be good. The only other thing I can think of is: is you’re suspension too stiff?

I love the craftsmanship and beauty of that motorcycle.Excuse my ignorance but I cannot figure out what you have installed on the end of the right handlebars?Is it a protector of some sort?

Yes the thing on the right bar is a brake lever protector, they’re required on some tracks over here.
A waste of time IMO, but I don’t make the rules !
