In the shed with the top end apart for Jim's exhaust thread repair.

The pistons and bores are incredibly free of any scoring, so here's hoping that I can merely re-ring the old girl. Once the pieces are clean, a quick feeler gauge check will prove that out. What really sucks is that the good Spring riding weather is just starting to come on strong.

Time I got the old girl fired up again. The K2FC magneto was rebuilt and only did a few miles but that was then, this is now. What's the best battery-less self-generating ignition these days? Anything electronic or do they all need a battery?

Great bike !!

With regard to the ignition, try www.electrexworld.co.uk

They do a lighting/ignition , and just ignition kit. Look up stator kits on their site STK-102D and STK 012.
I use one of their ignition kits on a BSA Victor, it all works just fine.

Eddie; just klick one of the pics, and there´s more, both pics and reading. After looking at that, I´d classify this bike as a couple of notches above "very" interesting.....

Thanks for the tip Tommy, really good stuff.

I particularly like the quote: "the bike weighs about the same as a stock Commando Interstate with the engine and gearbox missing"

Tommy, don't forget that I'm English, so "very interesting" is high praise really, in fact it probably translates into Amercian as "God dam freakin awesome dude"
