Hey Tornado, this is gorgeous.

what makes your back rubber look these distinctive ?
Thanks for the compliment..Proper camera gear makes all the difference.
Re. Rear rubber, it's an 18" alloy rim (from Madass on these forums) with a taller profile tire (K70) than stock. So I guess it does look fuller than other bike when compared to front and with other stock Commandos. But to me it looks way smaller than the 16" fatty wheel/tire that was on this bike when I acquired it last January in HiRider config ( only the 2 Gallon tank and 5 3/4" headlamp remain).

The NOCNZ booth at the NZ Motorcycle Show show is chock full of Commandos to celebrate the 50th. All there, save @Brooking 850 who was lucky last.

And mine, with the alloy finally on and a chicken scratching info card.

Tank and sidecovers are sprayed with Por15. Next door is a special that a local guy made his own frame with 29 years ago. MX wheels and claims 320lbs wet.

He had a Vincent Black Shadow engined frame he just built that had an Ohlin shocked custom girder and aluminum box framed swingarm he made. Took 3rd in the show.

Great day yesterday first start and first 100 miles on my rebuilt motor:)
Some quiet time in the workshop today, for me the bike and my hangover  Pulling down the head setting tappets, timing, oil change.
Happy New year !

Had a lovely ride out yesterday, 100 miles or so in the Jura, but so cold. My phone died through cold so couldn’t take a photo. And my favourite coffee stop closed for January! But washed off the salt and a nice polish up once thawed out. Going to look at heated grips today.

Have a good day

Martin

Hi Martin,
Love your bike. Is that a long range fastback tank? From what I can see you aren't running a standard front brake. Have you has any issues at the Strassenverkehrsamt?

Cheers,

cliffa.

Heated grips are good, but a heated jacket liner is wonderful....feels like you're in a warm bath!
I run a liner from Powerlet...claims to be highest out put sold (105Watts) and has a wireless two circuit temp controller. Got it at clearance markdown from $400 to $99 cdn.
Have tried it on my '74 850 and seems to work well if the stock headlight is off. Will be swapping in an LED lamp oneday

Hi Cliff, it‘s a Comatlas tank made by Ross Thompson in Canada. Atlas top with fabricated base like LR.
The brake is CNW. I have never taken it to MFK with that brake, last tech inspection it had the standard brake. But it is due in May so we will see then.

Cheers, Martin.
