Bought as a 2 Stroke Norton. Oil consumption similar to gas! ;)
New psitons, renew cylinders, valves done by Dieter Corders
Carb change from Mikuni VM34 to Amal 34mm Single Carb; since that time more reliable start behavior.
Gear box reworked due to kicker arm moved while driving.
After funny Boyer digital Ignition Box Tri-Spark ignition since that time no kick back at all.
With Boyer I feared to kick start.
Now assembled ALTON e-start since the age catch me up!
My friends called my Norton "Puppy" Because when we have a break many people ask about the Norton, age, etc.

Puppy? Life in the old dog yet!

The Mikuni must have been worn out!

Could be, but I'm so happy with MKII. Starts great, runs smooth, simple carb no stressful adjustment!
The Mikuni: Cold tricky but fired up after 2-3Kicks, Hot very realible start, 1 Kick, betwenn hot - cold, or Motor died direct after colkd start: A NIGHTMARE to restart! A nightmare!
I spend a lot of € and time for the setup but by the end of the day: I sold the Carb.

Good looking bike! I also have a single Amal 34. Do you have any difficulty with the throttle cable exit, at the top of the carb? There doesn't seem to be enough clearance. Mine pushes against the frame and causes the rubber manifold adaptor to sag.

No, the cable bent in an acceptebale radius. Throttle runs free. I made the cable by my own. Not so stiff as original. Maybe that is the reason haven't any issues. I will make a picture later and share with you by PN

Well spotted! Yes, looks like a BSA / Triumph conical hub.

That would be brilliant, thanks. Mine has a stainless steel sleeve the cable runs through and it takes up too much space, be good to see the radius I could get away with. Thanks.
