Confession time.........I didn't do the restoration.
I was looking for a Commando to rebuild and in the time I was looking saw this one pop up for sale (at a huge price). I spent over 12 months looking for a Commando that Icould fix up to the spec. I wanted and had tallied the $$$ as to what it was going to cost me all up. In the meantime the price of this bike came down below what I had figured I would have to spend all up to build what I wanted, and it pretty much had all the mods on it that I would have incorporated into my build. So I bought it and I reckon I saved money by doing that. I'm still having fun fettling it and trying to iron out some little niggles (part of Brit bike ownership as you know).
So the front brake caliper as I understand it from the PO is actually a Lockheed replica......the disk is a Norvil product (so far OK

Wondering what year this model may be..
hard to tell because obviously the chassis, running gear , engine, gearbox , tank, fork and seats have been changed out from a standard Commando yet for some reason I was attracted to this image . It looks like it may offer a significant performance upgrade...

Land yacht and dinghy !

Rode my "Land Yacht" from Indianapolis to Austin TX a couple of weeks ago to watch the MotoGP. A few side trips and detours to find fun roads through Arkansas. Put on 2975 miles in 4 days of riding. Way more comfortable than the Commando.
Several bikes for different rides is the best solution.

Agreed - I have an ST 1300 for distance running but truth be told I don’t ride it much .

I don't ride the 'Wing very often. I refer to it as "my wife's bike", it's the only one she'll get on...I think the backrest and arm rests make her feel safer.
The Texas trip is the first time I've ridden it since 2018.
