Pictures of your Norton Commandos

New to the site. My name is Alex, 30 years old, first bike was a Combat Commando and I still have that one plus a few more Commandos and some other Brit bikes. Born into a Norton family, my pop still has his first Norton, a 1967 P-11. Thought I would post a picture of one from my old man's fleet, and easily his favorite Brit bike... 1 of 2 remaining Gus Kuhn race bikes... This is the one pictured on the cover of the October 1996 Classic Bike Guide. Gus Kuhn site has most of the article and specs posted if your want to check out some more info.. This S, as NOC records says, dates from 14th April 1970, and went new to Slocombes of Neasden, London.
Came in Italy more than 30 years ago with an american guy.

I've owned this one since 1980...My first bike. A 1974 850 Commando Roadster. Just decided to rebuild it this past winter...every nut, bolt, bushing, bearing, washer and seal has been replaced. A complete teardown. It has seen different configurations and colors over the years. Original paint was red with silver pinstripe. Still have all the original parts. I went to a Norton Rally once, and almost jumped on someone else's bike. I don't have that problem now.

Looks kind of like Florida Green on on the Austin Healey MK1's, just a bit "greener".

Thanks for diggin' the green Mr. Walker. When I did the tank, front fender, and side covers back in the 90's I found the color in a PPG color chip book. It was a custom "hot rod" color called "Summer Green". A couple years ago when I wanted to get the rear fender and fly screen done to match, I called PPG and they did not have any info on the paint, as colors always change. I just took it to a friend who matched it with a machine, it came out close enough. Hey...."Florida Green"..."Summer Green", "Monkey Sh*t" Green, they all look good to me.

sorry , eddie , but the dommie is in hybernation at the back of the garage and as it is winter i am reluctant to pull everything else out
But i promise to put some pics of it , in spring , in full action.
as said before , i actually never used it as the purpose for building it (pulling a chair and later going to IOM with it ) was gone .
it does however do what it was supposed to do , look like a std model 88 but with a 920 engine and on isolastics , give a smooth ride
But as it hasn,t really had any miles under its wheels i do not want to show it off and have to admit later that there were flaws in it , so you will have to wait a bit , but thanks for asking and stirring the will to run it in

the picture was taken in the IOM , and in its company were a ducati 888 , ducati 72 gt round case , ducati 900ss bevel , guzzi lemans 2 (modified a bit ....)std commando and a modern daytona (678?)

as my bike was the lightest of them all it really outhandled them ( having 4 isos helped no doubt) but the 888 and the guzzi were definetely faster once above 140kmh ( the daytona is not taken into account)
it also required MUCH more maintanance than the others , spitting oil out of the breather because of my mods of oil in frame and cracking the megas .
All those flaws are now believed to be cured ( liar you havent run it for a long period yet )

New paint job completed a week before chrissy and back on the road yesterday. Ran out of petrol on the way to the servo as a fuel hose wasn't seated properly - resulting in a 1k push in warm conditions, but this morning I got out for a decent fang.
