VERY NICE!!went out for a 70 mile run yesterday with my friend Jeff (blue 73 Mk1). perfect day here in Flagler Beach for a ride. stopped for lunch - a couple classic Norton's sure draws the attention --

Here is my 74 850 mk2a 10,000 miles and last used 15 years ago. I got it out from under a sheet in a garage 4th February 2020 and have spent a bit of time and money bringing it back to life just in time to not being allowed out on it.

Why do you say you're not allowed out on it? There's no ban on riding motorcycles, they can be used in the same way as any other transport. Just plan what you'll say if you're stopped. Shopping, exercise …

Ah well no-one can argue with your personal choice, but I wasn't suggesting you do it just for a ride. I just wouldn't have liked to think you might have believed there's a ban, as others have and do. My own circumstances are clearly different, too – I've been laid up with the virus (according to two GPs and a paramedic) for six weeks, and am feeling as weak as a kitten. For me, getting out on the bike after all this time would be strenuous, QED … Best wishes, stay safe.

I quickly broke lockdown and bought 10 litres of fuel and gave it a drink. Although I got it started yesterday it was running in fumes and not very well at all. This time, a quick tickle and it started first kick. I next need to work out how to set up the carbs better, but it’s going for now.

Fresh out of the garage after an inexcusably long rebuild. Can't go anywhere on it due to the 'essential journeys only' Nazis, but I'm pleased with how it came out
One disappointment is the seat, which was apparently an early attempt at an 'S' Type seat by Leightons, done a few years ago. The latest ones sold by Andover Norton are much closer, being the right overall shape, but the quilting isn't 100% correct. I may just have to settle for one of those, as the current one is a bit of a minger!
