Yes that’s no problem.

I think the cut off is pre 1983.
If the bike is older than that then you I don’t need ‘em. However, if they’re fitted they have to be in working order.

But I gotta be honest, it seems that fewer road users these days understand arm signals in this country even though they are perfectly valid and in our ‘Highway Code’.

I hear that. When I was a kid my mom taught me hand signals for driving. I've had to use them on the bike when the blinkers were malfunctioning. Making a left turn is pretty obvious, you just point left (USA), but the wave for a right turn isn't always understood by drivers around you.

It's the unauthorised hand signals that cause most consternation!!

There's no legal requirement for mirrors to be fitted as far as I'm aware.

My '70 came without blinker lights. I added them because many young people driving are not aware of "Hand signaling". All the vehicles in their era had blinkers so they aren't paying attention to hand gestures. I just felt it was safer to have the blinkers, particularly on the rear of the bike. I always felt that I could see what oncoming vehicles were doing, and act accordingly so I didn't have front blinkers for a while. I believed that I didn't need front blinkers, until an oncoming car turned left in front of me while I was going straight, and barely made it around his rear bumper after he cut me off... I like blinkers now....

I thought the cutoff year for blinkers on a bike was '73 in america. I think after that year, manufacturers were required to include them... I could be wrong there.

You think correctly. Bikes manufactured after January 1, 1973, are required to have them.

I have the same issue with clip ons, the shortest length of pre fab braided brake line I was able to find was 28" I believe, so there's a rather prominent bow. I think 20-22" is what I need at full fork extension.

You got a fairing right? Don’t worry about it !

But to be honest, shortening hoses yourself isn’t that difficult so long as you buy the right fittings etc. Some good vids on you tube about it.

In Texas, it's '75 or later.

I use hand signals ALL the time on my classic bikes, and MOST of the time on my modern bikes; just in case a blinker light went out, and it helps idiots see you.

True, odds are they have no clue what it means but it still tends to get their attention

Welcome John. very interesting shop you have there. I'd love to be able to identify some of the parts you have hanging up, but whenever I click images that are on postimage.org all I get is this..

Cliffa, it's the pic hosting site I use, not sure how to get past the redirect. Folks often comment on how "cluttered" my shop is lol....I always defend it by stating that I sorta know where everything is. It's a very small garage and services a number of motorcycles, old beater vehicles, chainsaws, sawmills, honeydo projects etc :)

They are the most interesting garages ;)

It's not just your images I get it with all postimages ...err images.

If you create a 'gallery' in Postimage and upload your images full size to your gallery (but use the Hotlink for forums option to post here) they should be viewable 'full size' by others.
 
I love zooming in and looking at details in photos of other people's garages/sheds/shops. You never know what you'll spot...
 
After a 7 year rebuild my Combat is back on the road, I’d forgotten how good it is.
ignore the rear light cable on the outside of the rear frame loop, I’ve just placed it inside the loop.
