Heidenau Tires

This thread is getting silly. I point out there seems to be some inconsistent info on this topic. And I get this dribble:

Skoti reproaches me: "Haven't you yet opened and read the factory Heidenau spec sheet attachment for 100-90H19 K65?"

nortonmargie assigns me homework: "Call the retailer and ask. Please update us with any informaiton"

Fasteddie feigns confusion: "I can’t understand why you’d want to prioritise a retailers lack of information over a manufacturers explicit / specific information ?"

There is no feigning on my part sir.

My point is simply that you have the information in black and white from the manufacturer.

So I don’t understand why you are still questioning the fact ?

The topic is closed IMO. Manufacturer says front and rear use. S’all there is to it.

Don't disagree, but a dedicated rear is better. My 19" Dunlop TTs are the same tyre front and rear, but they don't seem to have enough tread depth to provide good mileage on the rear. I end up using 2 rear to each front. Real world feedback can be helpful too.

dont think that is an inherent difference betweeen dedicatd rear and fron/rear tires. It depends on the manufacturers choices. as I recall, one of the 19in avon rr2s had a deeper tread depth than others and the same as the dedicated rear tires. Thin it was the 100/90-19.

The universal Avons always had less tread depth than dedicated rear tyres.

I was told (but cannot confirm it’s true) that the logic is that handling is negatively effected if a front tyre has too deep of a tread, as it flexes and can be felt through the bars. Whereas a rear tyre needs more depth to cope with the wear caused by transmitting the torque to the tarmac.

A universal is therefore (normally) basically a compromise between the two with front tyres having around 5mm depth, universals 5.6 and rears 7.5.

HOWEVER… the latest Avon website does indeed show what you say, a 100/90 19 F/R with 7.5mm tread depth. IF this is correct it would solve the issue of short rear tyre life for many !

I have a new RR date 4022 I am about to mount. I will measure the thread when I get a chance. I ordered a couple of sets when the Avons started to get scarce

EDIT:

At the deepest point of the center thread I measured 5.10-5.30 mm

Only if they are available. 19in do not seem available now in the states.

Roadriders - production is due to start in Turkey December 2026 with all sizes available by June 2027.
Well, that is the CURRENT promise at least.

Not sure why we should believe it when many other similar promises have come and gone 🤷‍♂️

I believe the way they have handled this whole topic, and the distain they have shown for the customer, is appalling.

One could be forgiven for thinking they must be owned by TVS… 🤣

I won't ever buy another one wherever they are made, as far as I'm concerned they dug their own grave

I hope they are not being made by Anlas in Turkey.
My RD250 came to me with Anlas tyres, they were scary, no grip and no stability
